Show the features that need review
Provide views that identify the cavities, walls, threads and mounting interfaces in the complete structure. Mark the relationships between critical surfaces and datum references. Describe surfaces that must be preserved through machining and finishing.
This is an illustrative design exercise.
What to include in the RFQ
- The controlled model and drawing revision
- Critical relationships between mounting faces and features
- Thin walls, cavities or surfaces requiring review
- Threads, datum references and acceptance criteria
- Material, finish and required inspection documents
Access, workholding and drawing revision
Ask for geometry, tool access, workholding, finishing and inspection to be reviewed together. Identify any design flexibility in advance; proposed changes need your engineering approval. The quotation should record the accepted revision and the scope that has been agreed.
