Bores, diameters, threads and fits
For a shaft, housing, sleeve or another part with rotational features, identify the surfaces used for assembly and function. Give each required fit, dimension and surface condition a drawing reference.
- Part and drawing revision
- Bores, diameters, threads and fits
- Surface and finish requirements
- Material grade and condition
Separate turning from other operations
A component may also need milling, gear machining or another secondary operation. Specify those features rather than assuming a turning quotation covers the complete part. The proposed route and any exclusions should be recorded in the offer.
Review a transmission component RFQ exampleDefine inspection and finishing
Identify the interfaces that require dimensional or surface verification, and state which inspection report is needed for acceptance. Include burr and edge requirements, markings, treated surfaces and packaging in the requested scope. Threads need their governing specification and any required verification.
Order quantities and delivery
State each quantity option against the same part revision. Include the requested date and destination. Material supply, capacity and the proposed schedule need confirmation in the quotation; a requested date is not an agreed delivery commitment.
